East Lyme — East Lyme won a pair of close doubles matches to pull out a 5-2 girls’ tennis victory over Woodstock Academy on Friday.
The No. 2 doubles team of Priya Whitley and Gracie Davis won their match 7-5, 6-7, 6-3 while the No. 3 team of Riddhi Bansal and Jeannette Liu rallied for a 3-6, 6-2, 10-4 (tiebreak) victory for the Vikings (7-5).
Mara Wolff, Yurina Shirai and Ritisha Ande added singles wins for East Lyme.
In other matches:
• St. Bernard swept the doubles matches on the way to a 6-1 win over New London. The teams of Sasha Manzione-Yaila Gutierrez, Julia Ferris-Theany Nguyn and Ty Richardson-Carmela Rangel were victorious for the Saints (5-5) as were singles players Olivia Busher, Mari Kamboli and Blake Murray. Emily Fielding won at No. 1 singles for the Whalers (0-13).
• St. Bernard/Wheeler improved to 6-3 with a 7-0 victory over New London. Matt Bottaro, Liam Peters, Zach Kobyluck and Evan Whitten were straight-set singles winners for the Saints as were the doubles teams of Wyatt Hayes-Sam Cunningham, Joey Busher-Nathaniel Dobley and Tyler Bustamonte-Andrew Coronado. New London is 0-11-2
• Matthew Turrisi rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles to highlight Stonington’s 7-0 win over Waterford in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I match. Tucker Callahan, Jackson Conlon and Chase Donnarummo also wons singles matches for the Bears (8-3, 4-2) who also picked up doubles wins from Conrad Tobiassen-Joshua Lord, Brett Caron-Peter Schoenecker and Peter Previty-Owen Grant. Waterford is 2-9, 0-6.
• Andre Sardar’s three-set win at No. 2 singles highlighted Fitch’s 7-0 victory over Woodstock. Will Albrikes, Ian Straub and Morgan Fisher also won singles matches for the Falcons (7-3) as did the doubles teams of Dougas Cardona-Calvin Lupo, Michael McBride-Ryan Mignosa and Nick Sousa-Andre Nickerson.
